“Saved Our Dog’s Life”

We approached them after our 5 year old Vizsla was showing aggressive behaviours towards other dogs. We were afraid that Loki’s behaviour would escalate to a point where there were drastic consequences.

James and Vicky not only helped Loki change his behaviour and become a more calm and controlled dog, they also taught us alternative ways to help him change his behaviour.

At the end of our sessions with the pair, Loki is now a well balanced, controlled and confident dog and we feel completely comfortable with him around other dogs. They really did save our dog’s life.

We would highly recommend them to anyone!

What To Expect

Your animal will usually have been seen by your vet and directed to us via a referral.

If you choose to come direct in most cases we will ask you for permission to contact your vet first to rule out any underlying medical conditions which may be causing the problem.

Most dogs will be seen at our behavioural centre just outside Caerphilly, where we have ideal facilities for testing in a controlled environment and access to many stooge dogs and other animals.

However, dependant on the type of problem/ species of animal / number of animals involved it may be more beneficial for you to book a home visit.

The initial assessment lasts approximately 90 mins. Following on from this meeting you will be sent you a behaviour modification plan for you to implement, offering advice regarding the dog’s management and subsequent treatment.

A copy of the report will be sent to your vet keeping them fully appraised of the dog’s progress. Although serious behavioural problems require follow up consultations or rehabilitation training sessions for many clients just one visit with some support via the telephone/email is sufficient.

It should also be noted that, for many long seated problems, there may not be a total ‘cure’ as such but advice will be given on working to improve the situation and implementing long-term management strategies.

Cost

Initial consultation and report: £150 (at our Caerphilly venue)

Follow up rehabilitation training sessions (at our Caerphilly venue): £35/hour or £50 if 2 trainers and stooge dogs are necessary

Full fee payable on booking. We recommend contacting your insurance company prior to booking if you wish to claim this back. Please notify us in advance so we can issue the appropriate invoice.

Beware

BEWARE the unqualified “behaviour expert”! At present the market for animal behaviour counselling is completely unregulated meaning that anyone can set up and call themself a behaviourist with no qualifications and often little experience.
Advice given by these “practitioners” can often be unhelpful, ineffective, frequently exacerbates problems and in some cases is downright dangerous.
